She completed Honours in Philosophy from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi. She enjoys meditation, listening to music, singing, and travelling in her spare time. Veteran actress Anita Kanwal disappeared from the television industry in April 2012 and her show ‘Sasural Genda Phool’ also went off-air. She took a lapse of a year and a half due to her health conditions. Earlier in November 2011, she was diagnosed with a serious health problem and her condition was worsened with time. According to the doctors, it was a rare disease in which she endured fluid accumulation surrounding her heart and remained undiscovered for long. She was put on steroids thereafter.
