Why is PAN Aadhaar Linking Mandatory?

Linking PAN-Aadhaar has become mandatory for the Indian expats till 31st March 2020 if they are holding any one of them either PAN or Aadhaar card. If an NRI wishes to do financial transactions back home, it would be a fruitful advice for him to have both a PAN card and Aadhaar card in his name. This linkage is supposed to be done by 31st March 2020.

If NRIs choose to make investments in the country or have a taxable income in India, the Indian Government has made it binding for them to hold PAN card in this case.

Advantages of linking PAN and Aadhaar card

Inhibiting Black Wealth Revolution

Linking an Aadhaar card with PAN card will restrict the possibilities of financing illegal activities like drug trafficking. As of now, it is easier to get into such activities by fake identities.

Easier for filing returns by Taxpayers

While filing Income Tax returns, the government has made it essential for the taxpayers to provide both PAN and Aadhaar card details as linking both the documents will authorize an individual for hassle-free online return filing.

Identifying tax escapist

Linking the PAN and Aadhaar will let the Income Tax department footmark every individual’s financial transactions and the tax they should pay. PAN Card is an essential KYC requirement for bank accounts and linking it with Aadhaar will automatically link an individual’s Aadhaar with his/her bank accounts. Presently, it is an important tool for paying taxes.

Elimination of fabricated PAN cards

The individuals who use fabricated PAN cards for not paying taxes or pay fewer taxes or obscure their taxable income will be stamped out by the government by enforcing this linking rule in the system.
