Kunal Ganjawala was born on April 14, 1972, into a musical family in Pune, Maharashtra. He was brought up with his sister who is a professionally trained Bharatanatyam dancer.

He attended St. Peter’s School in Mazagaon. He participated in Zee TV’s singing talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa at the time when it was hosted by Sonu Nigam. He started his music career by singing jingles for TV commercials. His solo debut in Bollywood was with the song “O Humdum Soniyo Re” from the 2002 film Saathiya, composed by A. R. Rahman, written by Gulzar and sung along with KK and Shaan. In 2003, he sang “Chodo Na Mujhe” from the film Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula composed by Vanraj Bhatia and Sandesh Shandilya and male vocals for the song “Har Taraf Har Jagah” from the film Saaya, composed by Anu Malik and vocals for songs in the film Tere Naam composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid duo.

A breakthrough in his music career was with the song “Bheege Honth Tere” from the 2004 film Murder. The song written by Sayeed Quadri and composed by Anu Malik was a huge hit of the year. In 2007, he along with Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher conducted a concert tour in North America, called “The Incredibles”. In April 2009, he performed at RECSTACY, the annual cultural event of NIT-Durgapur. He also appeared as a judge along with Shreya Ghosal and Pritam on Star TV’s singing competition show Amul Star Voice of India.
