At the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 Player auction in Kolkata on Thursday, December 2019, 62 players, including 29 overseas were sold with total spending of Rs 140.3 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore finished with just 21 players, Delhi Capitals picked up 22 players, Mumbai Indians 24 players, Kolkata Knight Riders 23, players and Chennai Super Kings finished with 24 players.   

Only four teams managed to fill up the quota of 25 players—Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.

Australian bowler Pat Cummins picked up by KKR was the highest earner with a mind-boggling 15.5 Crores followed by fellow Aussie Glen Maxwell who was bought by the Kings XII Punjab at 10.75 Crores followed by South African all-rounder Chris Morris who was picked up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for 10 crores. Some big names remained unsold as well.

Josh Hazlewood at 2 Crores and R. Sai Kishore at 20 Lakhs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Aaron Finch at 4.4 Crores, Chris Morris at 10 Crores,

Kane Richardson at 4 Crores, Joshua Philippe at 20 Lakhs and Pavan Deshpande at 20 Lakhs.

Mumbai Indians picked up Chris Lynn at the price of 2 Crores, Nathan Coulter Nile at 80 Lakhs, Saurabh Tiwary at 5 Lakhs, Mohsin Khan at 20 Lakhs, Prince Balwant Rai Singh at 20 Lakhs and Digvijay Deshmukh at 20 Lakhs.

Kolkata Knight Riders finalised Pat Cummins at 15.5 Crores, Eoin Morgan at 5.25 Crores, 

Rahul Tripathi at 60 Lakhs, Varun Chakravarthy at 40 Lakhs, M Siddharth at 20 Lakhs, Tom Banton at 1 Crore, Chris Green at 20 Lakhs, Pravin Tambe at 20 Lakhs and Nikhil Naik at 20 Lakhs.

Delhi Capitals bought Shimron Hetmyer at 7.75 Crores, Jason Roy at 1.5 Crores, Chris Woakes at 1.5Crores, Alex Carey at 2.4 Crores, Mohit Sharma at 50 Lakhs, Tushar Deshpande at 20 Lakhs, Lalit Yadav at 20 Lakhs and Marcus Stoinis at 4.8 Crores.

Kings XI Punjab picked up Glenn Maxwell at 10.75 Crores, Sheldon Cottrell at 8.50 Crores,  Deepak Hooda at 50 Lakhs, Ishan Porel at 20 Lakhs, Ravi Bishnoi at 2 Crores, Chris Jordan 3 Crores, Tajinder Dhillon at 20 Lakhs, Prabhsimran Singh at 55 Lakhs and James Neesham at 50 Lakhs.

Rajasthan Royals bought Robin Uthappa at 3 Crores, Jaydev Unadkat at 3 Crores,

Yashasvi Jaiswal at 2.4 Crores, Kartik Tyagi at 1.3 Crores, Akash Singh at 20 Lakhs,

David Miller at 75 Lakhs, Oshane Thomas at 50 Lakhs, Anirudha Ashok Joshi at 20 Lakhs,

Tom Curran at 1 Crore, Andrew Tye at 1 Crore and Anuj Rawat at 80 Lakhs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad list includes Virat Singh at 1.9 Crores, Priyam Garg at 1.9 Crores,
