Sumeet Raghavan Biography

Sumeet Raghavan was born on 22 April 1971 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He attended Chembur Karnatak High School in Mumbai and graduated from DG Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mumbai.

Sumeet made his debut in television as a child artist playing the lead title role of ‘Faster Fene’ in the 1983 series Faster Fene aired on DD National. He joined a theatre group in Mumbai in 1986, and his first play was Mala Bhet Havi Ho. He also did many other popular plays like Rang Umalatya Manache, Jwalamukhi and Lekure Udanda Jahali.

His debut was as a dubbing artist for actor Martin Lawrence in the 1999 American buddy cop comedy film Blue Streak directed by Les Mayfield. He made his debut in Bollywood in 2006 with the Indian parody comedy film Ghoom directed by Ashish Patil. His debut in Marathi was with Atul Kale’s comedy thriller film Sandook, starring opposite Bharagavi Chirmuley.

Sumeet is married to actress Chinmayee Surve since 8 June 1996. They met on the sets of the play Jwalamukhi. Chinmayee Surve, who is born and brought up in Aurangabad, has worked in over 25 serials, films and plays. They have two children Neerad Sumeet and Deeya Sumeet.

Sumeet’s father is from Tamil Nadu and mother is from Karnataka. He had an interest in music since his childhood and received training from Pt. Vasantrao Kulkarni and Suresh Wadkar. He likes to sing ghazals and light Hindi music. He has participated in the popular music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Marathi in 2007 and became one the finalists. He has also won in the music reality show Say Shava Shava on NDTV Imagine in 2008. In 2011, he participated in another music reality show Star Ya Rockstar on Zee TV.
