WHAT IS SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd of October, 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi with an aim to make India clean. The government associated the mission with Mahatma Gandhi, as he was a great supporter of the cleanliness cause in the country and throughout his life was involved in activities related to cleanliness and hygiene. Thus, it was started on the birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation. Needless to say, the mission was launch with an aim to provide sanitation facilities to every family, including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, safe and adequate drinking water supply and cleanliness drive in villages.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is proactively taking part in making the campaign a huge success. As we all know, he started the campaign by cleaning the street by himself to encourage every Indian to take a step towards clean India mission.

SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN History

The Swachch Bharat campaign is the biggest step taken ever as a cleanliness drive till date. On the day of the launch of campaign millions of people including government employees, students from schools and colleges participated in the event to make every citizen of the country aware of the big step taken by the PM for the betterment of India. The event was held at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 2nd of October in 2014 in the presence of 1500 people and was flagged off by former President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi nominated the name of nine famous personalities from business industries, sports, and Bollywood to drive the clean India campaign. He also requested them to invite another nine personalities individually and requested them to continue the chain and take the campaign to every citizen living in any corner of India so that this vision of cleanliness may be completed till 2019 and India can become a clean country forever in the history.

The objective of SWACHH BHARAT MISSION

The objective of the Swachh Bharat campaign, launched by the government of India, is to accomplish the cleanliness goal and fulfill the vision and mission of “Clean India” by 2nd of October 2019 which is the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Following are some important objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:
