His father was a banker. He has two siblings – one brother who is a Chartered Accountant and one sister named Namrata. After he concluded his schooling, he embarked on his career in the hospitality industry in 1984 and enrolled himself in the Hotel Management program at the Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition, Pusa, New Delhi.
