BJP and Congress are all set to split the AAP’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as he is recurrently contesting in Delhi Assembly Polls 2020 to be held on 8th February.

Legislative Assembly Polls 2020 is slated to take place in Delhi on 8th February and the counting of votes will be held on 11th February. Election Commission of India had released the election manifesto on 6th January 2020 at 3:30 PM IST.

The Notification Date of the Poll Event is 14th January, Last date for filing nomination is 21st January, scrutiny of nomination will take place on 22nd January and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is 24th January 2020.

Earlier in 2015, the sixth Delhi Legislative Assembly was constituted for five years and their term is concluding on 22nd February 2020. AAP is the governing party that experienced the prodigious achievement by triumphing 67 out of 70 Assembly seats, the BJP won three seats and Congress drew none. Aam Aadmi Party composed the majority government and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi. The AAP party will presumably be imitating most of the previous candidates this year. 

The first list of candidates of AAP party will supposedly be coming up before January 14th. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be battling from New Delhi Assembly seat again.

The list of presumed contenders of BJP will also be released soon. 

There are nearly 70 constituencies with BJP and each constituency consists around 50 BJP workers. In total 3,500 workers will propose the names of their cherished contenders. These names will be considered for the selection of the contenders. The election committee will table the final list of the contenders to the BJP leadership and then the first list of contenders will be announced around January 18.

The Congress party’s process of scrutinising the candidates is afoot. The first list of the contenders of the Congress party is projected to promulgate before the nominations starting on January 14.

Social media platforms are spiced up with the bandy words as BJP and Congress are all set to bust AAP’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

‘Lage Raho Kejriwal’ theme song has been initiated by the AAP party for assembly poll campaigning.

BJP promises to impose a token charge of Re.1 for water and power supply if it comes into dominance. 

List of Key Candidates

There will be a major rivalry between the tri-party – AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) and the Congress and the voting in Delhi will be held on February 8th, 2020. As per the senior representatives, none of the parties has declared their candidate lists. They are likely to introduce new faces with the luminaries and might propose the names of a few older ones, too.

Aam Aadmi Party

Arvind Kejriwal – He will be contending from the New Delhi seat as this is the AAP’s national convener’s current constituency. 

Manish Sisodia – The Deputy Chief Minister has been serving the Delhi’s Education sector and has been ranked high for the MLA’s performance. He will presumably be contesting from his current constituency Patparganj. 

Atishi – She is an Oxford graduate and has contributed to the improvement of Education sector widely. Hence, she is the new face exhibiting AAP either from Jangpura or the Kalkaji seat. 

Raghav Chadha – He is an eloquent orator on TV and chartered accountant by profession who is representing the AAP’s Lok Sabha from South Delhi. His name might also be proposed in the impending assembly polls in Delhi. 

Saurabh Bharadwaj – Saurabh has also been ranked high amongst all the present MLAs and will likely be fielded again from Greater Kailash. He is the national spokesperson and AAP’s MLA of the party.

Bharatiya Janta Party 

Vijender Gupta – BJP’s Gupta is the Delhi’s blue-chip Leader of Opposition who will be contending from Rohini. The chief ministerial face is yet to be selected as the marathon encompasses Lok Sabha MPs Manoj Tiwari and Parvesh Verma, and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel.

M Sirsa – BJP will again nominate the leader of the Akali Dal who triumphed the Rajouri Garden by-election to become an MP.

O P Sharma – BJP will also propose the name of O P Sharma, presently serving as an MLA from Vishwas Nagar.

Kapil Mishra – Mishra is the separatist AAP leader who joined his hands with BJP afterwards. He is in the limelight of pro-CAA rally in Delhi. The BJP has provided him with a ticket and he is also the member of its manifesto committee.

Congress

Alka Lamba – The student union leader joined India against corruption movement and subsequently the AAP, too. But she proved to be a separatist pointing out the differences with Kejriwal and went back to Congress last year. She was an MLA from Chandni Chowk.

Mateen Ahmed – Congress will presumably be proposing his name for the ticket as he has served five-time MLA from Seelampur in the North East Delhi constituency. He had triumphed the 2013 assembly polls but lost to 2015 Kejriwal’s wave.

Asif Muhammad Khan – Khan is the former MLA of Congress serving from Okhla. He has also supported in the riots against CAA, NRC and NPR.
