Tina Ambani Biography
Tina Munim Ambani, former Indian Bollywood actress and Chairperson of the Mumbai-based Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Harmony for Silvers Foundation and Harmony Art Foundation celebrated her 63rd birthday on February 11 in Mumbai. She triumphed the hearts of millions with her staging and also won the heart of Anil Ambani who was flattered after being introduced to Tina at a nuptial ceremony in 1991. He fell in love with Tina the very first time they met and expressed his feelings of getting married to her to his family.
Tina is an activist, philanthropist and also a Chairperson of Group CSR, Reliance Group and the Mudra Foundation for Communications Research and Education.
Hailing from a Gujarati Jain family, she was born as Nivruti Munim in the house of Nandkumar and Meenakshi Munim on 11th February 1957 in Mumbai. She was the youngest child amongst nine children of her parents. She completed her studies from MM Pupils Own School in Khar, Bombay. She bagged the title of ‘Femina Teen Princess India’ in the same year and participated at the Miss Teenage Intercontinental contest in Aruba in which she stood as second runner-up. She garnered two more laurels at Kingdom of the Netherlands – Miss Bikini Award and Miss Photogenic Award. Later, she did her Bachelor’s in Arts from Jai Hind College. She did Interior Designing and Computer Science in Los Angeles. Her leisure interest includes reading, listening to music and doing charity.
Tina is very fond of Mexican and Italian food. Her favourite colour are Black, Blue and White and she loves playing cricket. Her best-loved destinations are Italy and Singapore. She likes Rajesh Khanna as an actor and Dimple Kapadia as an actress. Yash Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are amongst her favourite film directors.

Tina is an outstanding thespian of her time who has given thirteen years of her life to the Indian Bollywood industry. She made her first screen debut in Des Pardes (1978) along with Dev Anand who cast her as his leading lady in this blockbuster movie. She was assigned for his two more films in the lead, Lootmar and Man Pasand. The press allied her name with a Casanova who launched her into movies but later she revoked it. She starred with Sanjay Dutt in his debut movie ‘Rocky’. Her notorious films with actor Rajesh Khanna comprises Fifty Fifty, Souten, Bewafai, Suraag, Insaaf Main Karoonga, Rajput, Aakhir Kyon, Paapi Pet Ka Sawaal Hai, Bhagwan Dada, Alag Alag and Adhikar. Tina is known to be the only Bollywood actress to play a role of the love interest of all the actor sons of Raj Kapoor – Randhir Kapoor in Harjaee and Pukar, Rishi Kapoor in Karz and five others and Rajeev Kapoor in Aasmaan.
Tina was proposed for becoming the Board of Trustees of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, USA.
Tina broke her relationship with the curtain after tying knots with one of the most respected business houses in India. She never had a look back in the film industry after becoming Ambani’s bahu and had a lot more to do in the world.
Being the chairperson of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Centre in Mumbai, she has received accreditation from the JCI, NABH, CAP and NABL. This is the first centre for children’s cardiac care and first liver transplant centre in western India, its robotic surgery programme; the centres for rehabilitation and sports medicine. She has taken initiatives to commence 18 cancer care centres in Maharashtra.

Tina has always been in the headlines for her captivating beauty. Munim walked down the aisle with Indian businessman Anil Ambani, the son of Indian business magnate Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Group in February 1991. The couple is blessed with two sons – Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul.
Besides, during the period of her successful career, Munim had a strong affair with the leading actor Sanjay Dutt which ended due to his drug and alcohol addiction. In the 1980s, she was in a healthy and long relationship with her co-star Rajesh Khanna which subsequently ended up because he was not ready for the separation with his existing wife Dimple Kapadia.
