Karan Singh Grover Biography
Grover was born on 23 February 1982 in a Punjabi Sikh family in New Delhi, India. His father is Amrit Pal Singh and mother is Deepa Singh. He has one younger brother, Ishmeet Singh Grover. His family shifted to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia when he was young. He attended International Indian School, Dammam (IISD), Saudi Arabia and graduated in Hotel Management from IHM, Dadar Catering College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. He then worked as a Marketing Executive in the Sheraton Hotel in Oman.
Grover began his career as a model in 2004. He participated in the Gladrags Manhunt Contest and won the ‘Most Popular Model’ title. He started his television career in the MTV India’s youth show Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi produced by Balaji Telefilms. He conducted a nationwide talent hunt for the production house.

Karan’s debut in television was in MTV India’s 2004 series Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi created by Ekta Kapoor for Balaji Telefilms. In 2007, he starred in the Star One channel’s medical drama series Dill Mill Gayye created by Palki Malhotra and directed by Nissar Parvez, Amit Mallik, Aniruddh Rajderekar, Arshad Khan, Vikram V Labhe and Rahul Agarwal. The Times of India referred to him as an ‘instant hit’ and ‘teenage icon’ due to the show that was selected as Star One’s No.1 Show. While acting for Dill Mill Gayye, he also contested in few reality shows and appeared in several commercials.
He disappeared from Dill Mill Gayee for a while as the production house Cinevistaas Limited stated that they lodged a complaint against him for reporting hours late for work and thus incurring loss for the company. He returned to the show after six months due to demand from the fans. Following Dill Mill Gayee, he was featured in two other shows with Cinevistaas Limited, a telefilm Teri Meri Love Stories and a cameo appearance in Dil Dosti Dance.
In October 2012, he acted in a Zee TV daily fiction, Qubool Hai, produced by 4 Lions Films. The show was ranked No. 2 in popularity among Indian Television shows. The Times of India gave Karan the credit for the high television ratings of the show. His portrayal of Asad Ahmed Khan in the show won him the Zee TV’s ‘Best Actor Popular Award’. In 2013, he became one of the highest-paid actors in Indian Television.
Karan Singh made his big-screen debut in Pavan S. Kaul’s 2008 suspense thriller film Bhram alongside Dino Morea, Milind Soman and Sheetal Menon. In 2015, he appeared in Bhushan Patel’s horror film Alone, alongside Bipasha Basu. The film which was a remake of a Thai film of the same title received mixed reviews. Box Office India, a website that publishes box office collection results of Hindi films, stated that the film has the highest opening collection than the four other films that were released in the same weekend. He appeared in Vishal Pandya’s erotic thriller Hate Story 3 in the same year alongside Sharman Joshi, Zareen Khan and Daisy Shah in lead roles, and Priyanshu Chatterjee in a pivotal role. The film which was produced by Bhushan Kumar in association with T-Series films received fair critical reception and collected approximately ₹750 million.
His digital debut was in August 2019, through the action, drama, mystery, romance and thriller web series, BOSS: Baap Of Special Services, developed by Ekta Kapoor for the video platform, ALTBalaji. In June 2019, he made a comeback in television after six years with romantic drama series Kasautii Zindagii Kay created by Ekta Kapoor for Balaji Telefilms. He won the Gold Awards for ‘Best Actor in Negative Role (Male)’ for his performance in the series.
Karan Singh will be next seen in Ankush Bhatt’s upcoming thriller film Firrkie, alongside Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon, Sandeepa Dhar, Shibani Dandekar, Anoop Karir and Toby Hinson. The film is expected to be released in November 2020. He will also appear in Bhushan Patel’s action film Aadat Diaries, alongside Bipasha Basu and Yani Xander. This film is expected to be released in July 2020.

Karan Singh married Indian television actress Shraddha Nigam on 2nd December 2008, and their marriage was divorced ten months later. His next marriage was with television actress, Jennifer Winget on 9 April 2012 but they split ways in 2014. On 30 April 2016, he married the Indian film actress and model, Bipasha Basu. Karan Singh Grover also has two daughters, Shakya and Akira.
When asked about religious views in an interview he defined himself to be spiritual but not religious. He is a fitness enthusiast who regularly works out at the gym.
