Amitabh Bachchan Biography
Recently, Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan turned 77. He was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad, United Provinces, British India (now, Uttar Pradesh, India) to the well-known poet Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and to sikh socialite Teji Bachchan. He has one younger brother named Ajitabh Bachchan. He went to Sherwood College Boarding School, Nainital and later completed his Bachelor of Arts from Kirori Mal College, the University of Delhi. After graduation, he worked as a freight broker in Calcutta before embarking on a film career.
Amitabh Bachchan relocated to Bombay to find work as a film star but movie directors did not find him apt for the film industry as fairer skin was their first choice. On the other hand, his profound baritone voice did wonders in the theatrical world which was used for anecdote and background narration. After a letter of recommendation from the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he got a break in Bollywood where he did his debut Saat Hindustani in 1969. He became an action movie star after casting in Zanjeer in 1972. He was a close friend of Rajiv Gandhi, the son of Indira Gandhi.
His spouse name is Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, former politician and an Indian film actress. The couple is blessed with two children – Shweta and Abhishek. Shweta Bachchan Nanda is espoused to an industrialist Nikhil Nanda whose grandfather was the film director Raj Kapoor. Amitabh’s son Abhishek Bachchan is an actor, espoused to an actress Aishwarya Rai.
