Abhijeet Sawant Biography
Abhijeet Sawant was born on 7th October 1981 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He spent the early years of his life growing up in the Shahunagar district of Mumbai and soon developed an interest in music. After completing his graduation from Chetana College of Commerce & Economics, Abhijeet became keen on joining and working in the music industry.
Indian Idol, in which Abhijeet Sawant participated long time back, was an adaptation of the Pop Idol format. Abhijeet’s first solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released on April 7th, 2005. In the same year, Sawant also did playback singing in the movie Aashiq Banaya Aapne. He also performed and sang Marjawaan Mitjawaan on the stage.
Sawant competed in the first edition of Asian Idol which was organised in Jakarta, Indonesia on December 15th and 16th, 2007. He performed ‘Everything I Do’ by Bryan Adams and one of his own songs Junoon. He came third in the competition in which Hady Mirza of Singapore Idol was declared winner of the show. Sawant’s second album, Junoon, was released on July 10th, 2007. Besides, he was a finalist of Clinic All Clear Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar on Star Plus in 2008. The show was a competition between the winners and runners-up of many reality shows related to music, which aired on different Indian television channels, in which Abhijeet was declared as the first runner up.

In 2009, Abhijeet Sawant made his acting debut in the film Lottery and also made a small appearance at the end of Bollywood movie Tees Maar Khan. Moreover, Sawant made a special appearance as himself in the romantic drama series Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and thriller crime series C.I.D. He has also worked in commercials for Spraymint.
That’s not all, Abhijeet and his wife Shilpa, his childhood sweetheart and neighbour, participated in the Dancing Reality Show Nach Baliye, Season 4 in 2008-2009. But, they were eliminated after facing public votes. Abhijeet also co-hosted Indian Idol 5 along with Hussain Kuwajerwala. He also joined the Shiv Sena with a mandate to attract youth to the party fold.
