By the end of 1998, an article in Salon.com proved that the search results of Google were better than its competitors like Excite.com, Hotbot.com and technologically it was more creative in comparison to the over-loaded portals like Yahoo, Excite.com, Netscape’s Netcentre, AOL, Lycos, Go.com, msn.com. Google 21st Birthday Timeline
Today, the world’s leading search engine company Google operates in over 100 languages. Initially, Google was overshadowed by its competitors like Yahoo and Ask Jeeves but it never lost its confidence and kept growing day by day leaving its footprints on the web and in the heart of the users.
Let’s have a glimpse of the success stories of Google.
Google News
It was launched in 2002. Google News was a news accumulation app which presented articles from thousands of publishers and magazines. It is currently available in 35 languages, some of them are Hebrew, Latvian, Lithuanian and more. The official app was released in 2006 whereas in 2002 a beta version was released. It was developed by Krishna Bharat.
Gmail
Gmail’s beta or testing phase started on April 1, 2004, and ended on July 7, 2009. One gigabyte storage capacity was offered per user at the time of launch higher than other competitors. Today, Gmail offers each user 15 gigabytes of storage. By February 2016, almost one-seventh of the world was active and was using Gmail. Gmail is officially available in 105 languages.

It is a web mapping service which offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360-degree panoramic views of streets, real-time traffic conditions and route planning. Google +
Google is not at all stranger in social games too. It first launched Orkut which was in competition of Friendster. Then, Google came up with a new idea called Google Wave which allowed users to communicate in real-time, sharing thoughts, links, and files in a dynamic environment. People were finding difficulty in getting familiar with this service. Google Buzz also had few issues and then, finally, the company launched a new social networking website called Google Plus. On the surface, Google Plus is the part Twitter, part Facebook, and part Beluga. For a while, it was the hot topic of the hour but gradually, it failed.
If we start talking about Google, we can spend nights discussing its journey. But in the end, I would like to say one thing for sure:
Google is the only gateway where you name it and you get it! We wish Google will keep on stepping the stairs of success. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GOOGLE!
