Mohit Suri, the popular film director known for films like Murder 2 (2011), Aashiqui 2 (2013), Ek Villain (2014) and Malang (2020), celebrated his 39th Birthday this year on April 11.

Mohit Suri was born on April 11, 1981, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father is late Daksh Suri, who was a Computer Salesman and worked with Dunlop in Chennai, and mother is late Heena Suri, who was an air hostess. Mohit has a sister, Smiley Suri who is an actress in Bollywood.
At his age of 16, Mohit started working as an office assistant for T-Series, the leading music and film production company based in Noida, India. His job was to pick up cassettes from T-Series office and bring them back on behalf of his maternal uncle Mahesh Bhatt. He later worked as an assistant director to Vikram Bhatt in films like Kasoor (2001), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002) and Footpath (2003).

His next film was the action thriller film Crook in 2010, starring Emraan Hashmi, Neha Sharma and Arjan Bajwa in lead roles. He directed the action thriller film Murder 2, as a quasi-sequel to Anurag Basu’s 2004 film Murder. The film, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prashant Narayanan, and debutant Sulagna Panigrahi, became a blockbuster by grossing 1.15 billion worldwide. He directed the romantic musical drama film Aashiqui 2 in 2013 starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles. The film produced under the banner of Vishesh Films and T-Series Films was also a blockbuster by grossing ₹1.75 billion worldwide. Mohit’s action psychological thriller film Ek Villian in 2014 starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh received positive reviews from critics, for the theme, direction, screenplay and performances. The film produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor of Balaji Motion Pictures became a major success at the box office by grossing 1.69 billion worldwide. In 2015, he directed the romantic drama film Hamari Adhuri Kahani, starring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, and Rajkummar Rao, which didn’t do well at the box office. He later directed the romantic drama film Half Girlfriend based on the novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat. The film, made on a budget of 580 million starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, grossed 977.3 million worldwide. He directed the action thriller film Malang in 2020 starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu in lead roles. As of 19 March 2020, the film grossed ₹845 million worldwide.

Mohit Suri Personal Life
Mohit Suri is married to Udita Goswami since 2013. They fell in love during the shoot of the 2005 film Zeher, in which Udita played the female lead role. They broke up as Udita went to the US for taking an acting course, however, they later reunited and got married in 2013. They have a daughter Devi Suri born in 2015 and a son Karma Suri, born in 2018.
