Smita Bansal was born of 21st February 1977 to Sudhir Bansal and Shashi Bansal at Jaipur, India. She has a brother named Saurabh Bansal who is a doctor. On 9th December 1998, she married Ankush Mohla, an actor and director. They have two daughters Stasha Bansal and Anaagha Bansal. She also works as a theatre artist in many theatres plays in Hindi and English. She has also worked in a regional film of Rajasthan. In 2017, Smita started her own Acting Academy named Smita Bansal Acting Studio in Jaipur.
Smita did her schooling from St. Francis Convent Inter College in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Smita is 165 cm tall and weighs approximately 55 kgs. Smita Bansal belonged to an affluent Marwari family that didn’t support her wish of becoming an actress. She realised her passion for acting and moved to Mumbai in her young age. She started with small roles in TV serials and commercials for her survival in Mumbai. With her first serial turning out to be a hit, she got roles in more TV serials of leading channels. It is her innocent looks and relatable looks that made her character win the hearts of audiences.
Her debut in television was in the DD National’s 1996 series Ithihaas, created by Nirmala Sood and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. Her notable roles in her Television career were Zee TV serials such as Amanat, Aashirvad, Balika Vadhu and Sarhadein. She got popular by the character ‘Sumitra’ she played in Colors TV 2008-2014 soap opera Balika Vadhu. Her debut in cinema was in Venu’s 1998 Malayalam period film Daya. She appeared in Kundan Shah’s thriller comedy film in 2000, Hum Toh Mohabbat Karega.
