Shivpal Singh Yadav Biography
Indian politician Shivpal Singh Yadav celebrated his 65th birthday this year. Shivpal Singh Yadav is the younger brother of Samajwadi leader Shivpal Singh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is the nephew of Shivpal Singh Yadav.
He took birth on the felicitous day of Basant Panchmi in the house of Sughar Singh and Murti Devi in Saifai village, Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh. His natal day falls on 6th April 1955. His father was a simple-hearted man and a diligent peasant and his mother was a skilled housewife. His father never wanted him to go to school but his brother Mulayam Singh was determined to send him to school. He concluded his early education from Jain Inter College, Karhal Mainpuri in 1974. In 1977, he did Bachelors in Physical Education from Karm Kshetra Post Graduate College of Kanpur University in Etawah.
Shivpal Singh Yadav Political Career
Presently, Shivpal Singh Yadav is serving as a Member of Legislative Assembly of UP from Jaswantnagar, Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh.
Shivpal Singh Yadav entered into politics with the support of his brother Mulayam Singh Yadav. His brother who is an enthusiastic follower of Ram Manohar Lohia introduced him to the world of politics at a very young age. He took him along in Uttar Pradesh’s political movement through several campaigns and demonstrations. He got influenced by Lohia’s ideas and beliefs and proved his loyalty and caliber to Mulayam Singh Yadav as a dignitary leader of pro-Lohia ideology.
In 1988, he was chosen as the president of the district Sehkari bank and served till 1991. In 1995, he was again designated as the president of a district panchayat. In 1996, he emerged as a member of the legislative assembly for the first time. On 6th September 2007, he panned out as the cabinet minister under Mulayam Singh Yadav’s reigns in Uttar Pradesh. In 2012, the Samajwadi party triumphed the state assembly elections with full majority and Shivpal Yadav was again designated as the cabinet minister for the departments of irrigation and PWD in UP Government led by Akhilesh Yadav. In 2016, he relinquished from his positions in the government and the Samajwadi Party due to internal controversy within the party. Later, his brother Mulayam Singh Yadav announced him as ‘State President of Samajwadi Party’ on 13th September 2016.
Under the Mayawati administration, Yadav was serving as the leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly, since 2007.
On 31st January 2017, Yadav made a declaration to establish a new political party after the upcoming 2017 Assembly election. On 28th September 2018, he divided the Samajwadi Party and formed the new political party named Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party which received its name approval from the Election Commission of India on 24th October 2018. He is a renowned name in the political hallway of UP.
In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Firozabad seat to beat the same Samajwadi Party which he pitted with Netaji. He became a rebel against his nephew Akhilesh Yadav and cousin Ram Gopal Yadav.

- On 11th August 2012, Shivpal became the talk of the town when he released the statement, ‘’If you work honestly, a bit stealing is ok but don’t be a robber’.
- He made an offending statement for the former CM of UP Mayawati and titled her as ‘Idly’ or ‘Nithalli’.
- He was rumoured to have a connection with Ram Brach Yadav who was the brainbox of Mathura slaughter.
- He became a part of the headlines when he submitted Sadhvi Prachi produce four children.
Shivpal Singh Yadav Personal Life
Shivpal Singh Yadav was not interested in getting married. He always aspired to aid Netaji in reading and politics. Bit, when Netaji admonished the younger brother, he couldn’t utter even a single word in front of his elder brother and soon exchanged his nuptial vows with Sarla Yadav on 23rd May 1981. The couple is blessed with two children – one son named Aditya Yadav and one daughter named Anubha Yadav. His daughter is a medical practitioner and his son is a political leader who is acting as a chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation. The leader Mulayam Singh treated Sarla Yadav as a daughter not as a daughter-in-law and his wife monitored Shivpal’s behaviour. When Netaji came to the house in Saifai, she would tell everything about her husband to him. When Akhilesh Yadav’s mother died and left him at the age of 5, Shivpal and his wife nourished him.
He prefers to engage himself in sport activities in his spare time. His most cherished politician is Ram Manohar Lohia. His biggest opponent is Manish Yadav Pataray.
