Urvashi Rautela, the Indian film and modelling artist, celebrated her 26th Birthday on 25th February 2020 this year. The actress was crowned Miss Diva 2005 and also represented India in the Miss Universe 2015 pageant held on December 20, 2015, in the United States. Urvashi Rautela was born in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India on 25th February 1994 to Meera Rautela, a businesswoman and proprietor of a famous beauty salon and Manwar Singh Rautela a businessman based in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand. Her hometown is Kotdwara in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. She did her schooling from St Joseph’s Convent Public School, DAV School, Bloomingdale Public School and Gargi College of the University of Delhi.
Urvashi began her career as an advertisement model for prominent brands such as Grasim, Bhima Gold, Ozail Lifestyle, Lakshmi Cosmetics, Levis and LG. She also came upon various cover pages of the magazine. Her favourite hobbies include gymming, yoga, biking, reading, dancing and water sports. She was a national level basketball player and did a course in acting from New York Film Academy. Rautela made her first major break in modelling by winning the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week at the age of 15. She won the Miss Teen India 2009 title in 2009. She established as a model at her teenage days itself and became the showstopper for Lakme Fashion Week and also ramp walked at Amazon Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week and Bombay Fashion Week.
At the age of 17, Urvashi won prestigious titles like Indian Princess 2011, Miss Tourism World 2011, Miss Asian Supermodel 2011 and became the first Indian woman to win the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year 2011 pageant held in China with participants from 102 countries. It was in 2012 that she won the ‘I am She’ – Miss Universe India and Miss Photogenic award. She had to give up the ‘I am She’ crown as she was underage at that time. In the same year, she also made a special appearance in the Bangladeshi science fiction film Porobashinee directed by Swapan Ahmed. She appeared in Vishal Pandya’s revenge drama ‘Hate Story’ in 2018 for which she was praised for her performance. Times of India stated, “Urvashi Rautela has the main role and her character has plenty to offer. She starts as a girl dancing in a strip club, but as the story unfolds, her character gets plenty of twists, turns and reveals. There’s a lot on her table and the pretty actress handles the myriad emotions and shades with ease.” Urvashi’s films in 2019 were Anees Bazmee’s comedy film ‘Pagalpanti’.
