Nikitin Dheer was born on 17 March 1980 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to costume designer Anita Dheer and actor Pankaj Dheer who appeared in Hindi films and TV series such as Mahabharat, Chandrakanta, The Great Maratha, Yug and Badho Bahu. Pankaj was the first to make the first-ever Triple X Indian Adult film Bombay Fantasy in 1983. Dheer’s mother Anita was the costume designer in Raj N. Sippy’s 1994 action comedy film Ikke Pe Ikka starring Akshay Kumar, Shanti Priya and Prithvi. His grandfather C.L. Dheer was a film producer, who produced more than 15 films.

Nikitin Dheer started his career in acting in Ashutosh Gowariker‘s 2008 historical drama Jodhaa Akbar, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He played the character of Sharifuddin Hussain, Akbar’s brother-in-law. The film received critical appreciation and became commercially successful. The acclaimed film critic Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama praised Dheer for his performance by mentioning him as “fantastic”. Dheer’s appearances in Indian television series are in Imagine TV’s 2011 series, Dwarkadheesh – Bhagwaan Shree Krishna created by Sagar Films Pvt.Ltd, Colors TV’s 2014 stunt-action reality game show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi Season-5 hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty in which he contested in a special appearance. He became the second Runner up of the contest, which actor Gurmeet Choudhary became the first Runner up and actor-model Rajneesh Duggal the winner.

Dheer will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming action film Sooryavanshi featuring Akshay Kumar in the title character opposite Katrina Kaif. Dheer co-stars with Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher and Vivan Bhatena in the film while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles in Rohit Shetty’s previous films Singham and Simmba. The film which was initially scheduled for release on 24 March 2020, is indefinitely postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

Dheer married Television actress Kratika Sengar on 3 September 2014 in an arranged marriage. Kratika is best known for her appearance in serials like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Jhansi Ki Rani, Punar Vivaah and Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki.
Dheer’s favourite actor is Salman Khan and his favourite films are Nitin Bose’s 1961 crime drama film Ganga Yamuna, Moni Bhattacharjee 1963 film Mujhe Jeene Do, Rahul Rawail’s 1985 action drama film Arjun and Ram Gopal Varma’s 1990 action film Shiva.
